Once I connect to the Internet, how can I tell at what speed the modem connected at?

If you look at the bottom right hand corner of your Windows desktop, you will normally see your clock.  Directly to the left of your clock are a series of tiny icons.  One of these icons will look like two green (or blue depending on your operating system) computer screens connected together.  If you double click on that icon, it will bring up a screen that tells you your connect rate, and how much data has been sent to and from your computer.
